The ninth season of South Park began airing on March 9, 2005. The ninth season concluded after 14 episodes on December 7, 2005. This season is home to two of the show's most controversial episodes (both involving religion): "Trapped in the Closet" (where Stan Marsh is named the reincarnation of Scientology's founder L. Ron Hubbard) and "Bloody Mary" (where Randy believes his drinking problem is a disease and worships a Virgin Mary statue that bleeds from its anus).
