The salivon is the salivary secretion unit, consisting of the terminal acini, the intercalated duct, the striated duct, and the excretory duct. The secretion unit can be either sac-like (acinar/alveolar), or tube-like (tubular) in form; also, intermediate formations of these are possible, as in tubuloacinar/tubuloalveolar.
