Pioneer MRT Station

Pioneer MRT Station

Pioneer MRT Station (EW28) is an elevated Mass Rapid Transit station along the East West Line in Jurong.

Located at Jurong West Street 63, between Jurong West Street 61 and Pioneer Road North, it serves residents living in Nanyang and Pioneer. In addition, it serves people working in the nearby Jurong industrial area, as well as students and staff in Nanyang Technological University. The name of the station is derived from Pioneer Road North, the street adjacent to the station that passes through all these areas.

The roof of the station resembles those of stations along the eastern section of the East West Line and is curved with glass openings to allow sunlight through, similar to that of Joo Koon. Blue is the selected colour scheme of this station. It is the only station along the East West Line with a privacy screen built along the tracks at the side of the station (eastbound platform) facing these apartment blocks so as to ensure the privacy of the residents, and it is also the second along the NSEWL, the other is Marsiling. This station resembles Queenstown and Commonwealth, where it is built in between the road and beside it are only housing estates.
