The Paxton Hotel, formerly known as Paxton Manor and currently known as The Paxton, is located at 1403 Farnam Street in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska, USA. Designed by local architect Joseph G. McArthur, the current building was constructed in 1928, with its predecessor dating from 1882. Named for local businessman and community leader William A. Paxton, today the building houses luxury condominiums. It is one of the few significant Art Deco structures in Omaha today. Among some of the prominent guests who stayed at the Paxton were Buffalo Bill Cody and William Jennings Bryan, as well as President William McKinley stayed at the Paxton (the original building) during the Trans-Mississippi Exposition in 1898.
Famous quotes containing the words hotel and/or paxton:
“Never relinquish clothing to a hotel valet without first specifically telling him that you want it back.”
—Fran Lebowitz (b. 1950)
“See, in the Navy, during the war, I got used to the idea that something might happen to me, I might not make it. Well, I also got used to the idea that my wife and children were safe at home, theyd be all right no matter what. But what I didnt reckon with was that in this, this kind of a monstrous war, something might happen to them, and not to me. Well it did, and I cant, I cant cope with it.”
—John Paxton (19111985)
