Noot vir Noot ("Note for Note") is an Afrikaans language musical quiz shown on South African television. It is the longest continually running television game show (in any language) in the country, having reached episode 500 after 20 years during series 35 In 2010. The show was first broadcast in 1991; its first (and only, as of 1991) presenter being Johan Stemmet. The production company, which also owns the format, is Stemmburg Television, named after its founders - Stemmet and musical leader Johan van Rensburg.
Absa Group Limited has sponsored the programme since its inception.
Since 2004 the producers have also arranged a yearly roadshow, which takes the basic programme format on a concert tour. A boardgame version of the show was also available.
Notable past winners include Zelda Meyer (unbeaten champion) and Daantjie Badenhorst. The producers adapted the format of the program to include its first blind contestant, Ferdinand Venter.
As from series 32, the format of the program changed from the traditional 14 programs to 22 programs in a series. Program 22 will be the celebrity show where the sponsor, ABSA, gives an amount to charity.
Noot vir Noot introduced a new "Potpourri" concept during December 2010. The programmes featured some of the most popular medleys from the past seasons and also introduced the new electronic game which replaced the old boardgame.
In 2011 the program will have been on air for 20 years, more than 500 programmes recorded and Johan Stemmet a presenter on television for more than 30 years.
