A neurohormone is any hormone produced and released by neurons.
- Thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH)
- Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)
- Adrenocorticotropin-releasing hormone
- Antidiuretic hormone (ADH)
In contrast to the classical hormones oxytocin and ADH, which are released to the blood and distributed throughout the body, neurotransmitters can be considered paracrine hormones as they travel short distances to target cells.
