Mc Leod's Daughters (season 1)
The first season of McLeod's Daughters aired on the Nine Network from 8 August 2001 to 20 March 2002. It consists of 22 episodes, beginning with "Welcome Home" and ending with "Deep Water".
The 1996 telemovie served as a pilot and it became the highest rated telemovie of all time in Australia. Despite its success, the Nine Network didn't think a female-driven series would appeal to audiences and the show was not picked up. Five years later, Nine decided to produce the series, and it proved to be a hit, with the first episode attracting 1.89 million viewers. It quickly became one of Australia's most popular drama series. The first season was released on a 5-VHS set in Australia. A 6-disc DVD set was released in Australia on 9 September 2003, consisting of all 22 episodes and the earlier telemovie.
The first season won Lisa Chappell a Silver Logie Award for Most Popular New Female Talent. The show was also nominated for a Silver Logie for Most Popular Australian Drama.

Famous quotes containing the word daughters:
“The general Mistake among us in the Educating of our Children, is, That in our Daughters we take Care of their Persons and neglect their Minds; in our Sons, we are so intent upon adorning their Minds, that we wholly neglect their Bodies.”
