In 2012, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings named Berkeley the world's 5th most prestigious university, and one of six globally recognized "super brands." The 2012-2013 Times Higher Education World University Rankings placed Berkeley 9th in the world, 6th in the United States, and 3rd in California. The QS World University Rankings placed Berkeley 21st in the world, 14th in the United States, and 3rd in California.
