Air Force

The Portuguese Air Force (PoAF) was founded in 1952 as the result of the amalgamate of the Aeronáutica Militar and Aviação Naval. With the merger many aircraft were transferred from these earlier aviation services to the Air Force, having been in service before 1952.

Famous quotes containing the words force and/or air:

Who were the fools who spread the story that brute force cannot kill ideas? Nothing is easier. And once they are dead they are no more than corpses.
    Simone Weil (1909–1943)

He who wishes to teach us a truth should not tell it to us, but simply suggest it with a brief gesture, a gesture which starts an ideal trajectory in the air along which we glide until we find ourselves at the feet of the new truth.
    José Ortega Y Gasset (1883–1955)
