Liberian Girl Guides Association

The Liberian Girl Guides Association is the national Guiding organization of Liberia. It serves 345 members (as of 2003). Founded in 1920, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1928 and again in 1966 after a hiatus.

The Girl Guide emblem incorporates elements of the coat of arms of Liberia.

Famous quotes containing the words association, guides and/or girl:

In this great association we know no North, no South, no East, no West. This has been our pride for all these years. We have no political party. We never have inquired what anybody’s religion is. All we ever have asked is simply, “Do you believe in perfect equality for women?” This is the one article in our creed.
    Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906)

And time brings down what is both strong and tall.
But plants new set to be eradicate,
And buds new blown, to have so short a date,
Is by his hand alone that guides nature and fate.
    Anne Bradstreet (c. 1612–1672)

A man is free to go up as high as he can reach up to; but I, with all my style and pep, can’t get a man my equal because a girl is always judged by her mother.
    Anzia Yezierska (c. 1881–1970)
