The BET Awards were established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year. The awards are presented annually, and they are broadcast live on BET. BET commissioned Artist/Sculptor and Hip Hop culture icon Carlos Mare139 Rodriguez to design the Award sculpture. Global promotion is provided by Mac & Diva Entertainment.

Famous quotes containing the word bet:
“Alicia Huberman: Look, Ill make it easy for you. The time has come when you must tell me that you have a wife and two adorable children, and this madness between us cant go on any longer.
T.R. Devlin: I bet youve heard that line often enough.
Alicia: Right below the belt every time. Oh that isnt fair, Dev.
Devlin: Skip it. We have other things to talk about. We have a job.”
