As part of the nation-wide Sixth Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, Belfast East would be abolished. The replacement would be styled 'Belfast South East', transferring Upper Braniel, Ballyhanwood, Enler, Graham’s Bridge, Dundonald, and Carrowreagh, to neighbouring Strangford.
