Alvarez Guitars

Alvarez is a guitar manufacturer based in St. Louis, Missouri and founded in 1965. Along with manufacturing acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars, Alvarez also manufactures classical guitars. Alvarez replaced Westone in 1991. From 2005 to 2009, the brand was owned by LOUD Technologies, which also owns Mackie, Ampeg, Crate and other music-related brands. In 2009, Mark Ragin brought the management and distribution of the guitars back to St. Louis Music.

While many of its models are produced in China, the top-tier Alvarez-Yairi instruments are handmade by Kazuo Yairi at the Yairi factory in Kani, Gifu-Japan.

Famous quotes containing the words guitars and/or alvarez:

The present century has not dealt kindly with the farmer. His legends are all but obsolete, and his beliefs have been pared away by the professors at colleges of agriculture. Even the farm- bred bards who twang guitars before radio microphones prefer “I’m Headin’ for the Last Roundup” to “Turkey in the Straw” or “Father Put the Cows Away.”
—For the State of Kansas, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

No one is promiscuous in his way of dying. A man who has decided to hang himself will never jump in front of a train.
    —A. Alvarez (b. 1929)
