Agesander (Hades)

Agesander or Agesilaus (Gr. Άγήσανδρος or Άγεσίλαος) was an epithet of the Greek god Hades (Roman Pluto). The name derives from the Greek words agein (ἆγειν, "fetch" or "carry") and aner (ἀνὴρ, "man") or Laos (λαός, "men" or "people"), describing Hades as the god who carries away all men. Nicander uses the form Hegesilaus (Ἡγεσίλαος).
