A reporter from The Washington Post looks at a guy who is "un-Googleable." Translation: despite some successes in different universities, a research on his name ("W. Ashley Gum") with Google produced no hits at all.
So I decided to do some experiments.
A research on my name ("Roland Piquepaille") gave me about 50 results. I suppose it's the price to pay when you spend most of your career behind corporate firewalls.
A search for famous people in the computer industry showed various and surprising results: Dave Winer had 75,000 links attached to his full name, while Tim Berners-Lee and Bill Gates produced respectively 95,000 and 255,000 hits.
Then I moved to politics: Jacques Chirac, the french president, attracted 186,000 references while George Bush showed about 625,000.
Intrigued, I tried "George W. Bush" and I found a staggering number: about 1,260,000 documents are referencing the current U.S. president.
Please let me know if you find even bigger numbers.
